This facility avoids a one-star rating for exactly one reason: the operating room team responsible for my procedure. Dr. Perenich and the OR staff performed to an acceptable professional standard. That contribution alone prevents a total failure of the experience. All other aspects of care were objectively substandard. The coordination surrounding post-procedure transportation was poorly managed, and the nursing staff outside of the OR demonstrated a concerning lack of fundamental clinical competency. Establishing peripheral IV access in large, visible veins on a healthy, athletic patient should be routine. Instead, it became a prolonged and embarrassing display of repeated failure. This was not a difficult patient, an anatomical anomaly, or a time-critical emergency. It was a basic task performed poorly. For perspective, I regularly allow nursing students to place 18- and 20-gauge IVs without complication. The inability of licensed staff to do so—ultimately resorting to a 24-gauge—is not a matter of preference or caution; it reflects a skill gap that should not exist at this level of care. The experience was sufficiently deficient that I informed fellow nurses, not emotionally, but professionally. Situations like this should be reviewed for competency, not excused. Final rating: 3 stars, derived strictly from averaging performance. Without the OR team, this facility would receive one
I recently had my gallbladder removed at this center. The experience was a mix of excellent care and dangerous unprofessionalism. First, the good: The nurse who helped me discharge and took me to the car was kind, helpful, and seemed to genuinely care about my well-being. However, the staff member who prepped/shaved me for surgery (an older woman, approx 50-60) was unacceptable. When I expressed that I was in pain coming out of anesthesia, she sarcastically remarked, "Well you just had surgery." I have a job where I am an expert in my field; if a non expert tells me something obvious, I do not react with sarcasm. To do so to a vulnerable patient is not only rude, it shows a lack of emotional intelligence. More importantly, it is dangerous. I am autistic, and I have learned that I need to verbally communicate my physical sensations to ensure doctors understand what is happening to me. If I hadn't vocalized my pain previously, my gallbladder issues would never have been diagnosed. The risk involved in making a patient feel uncomfortable describing their pain borders on malpractice. If a patient is scared to describe their pain because of a rude staff member, they could die from an unnoticed complication. This staff member is a liability. Please contact me so I can identify her; she requires immediate retraining or removal from patient care.
Very nice facility and staff. My doctor...Alfredo Hernandez did and excellent job removing my gall bladder. Entire procedure was very smooth from check-in to discharge. Highly recommend!!
My husband went in for surgery to repair a tendon on Friday. They allegedly wrote him a prescription that could never be located and they have no follow up physician or after care. Due to it being the weekend, he was in excruciating pain for over 48 hours waiting to call and find out where his prescription could have went. They have no right to release someone whose been under anesthesia without so much as a sip of water, within 20 minutes of waking. This is more an assembly line type of medical service than a "patient first" facility. We waited for 6 hours in their parking lot because their lobby is ice cold and uncomfortable. We didn't know what time he was even having surgery until the day before and he had to call for the secured time due to their staff not informing us properly. Horrible experience all around.
Deceptive best business practices. They had my address incorrect and called me on February 25th @ 1:30, asking my address because they had a check for me. Instead they sent me a bill for $222.00. You could have asked for payment or Google my address to see if you got it right, since you got the bills back as undeliverable? If they are willing to LIE about a $222.00 bill, what will they do if they injure a patient or worse? I would have paid the bill, they didn't have to tell me they had a check for me to get the correct address. Dr Sanderson said the procedure I had, the price included the surgery center. At the check, they said I had no balance to collect before the surgery, they checked multiple times. I was going to have a $27k procedure in September, but this feels like a warning to find a different place to go.
