This is only for the financial office. Good luck trying to talk to a human, they never answer their phones. Always says they are helping other people. Yeah right. I had to cancel my surgery because I couldn’t get a hold of anyone to set up a payment plan. Be prepared to always have your phone in your sight, have the ringer on so you don’t miss a call back- if they actually do call back on a business day. I did get a call back on a Saturday and of course they said to call Monday. Yep, 3 hours trying to get a hold of Nicole, never answered.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. The people working here are either utterly incompetent, wildly disorganized, or new to the concept of good manners. Why do I claim this? Because this surgery center did not tell me that I needed to self pay over $1,000 for a procedure until the Friday before my Monday procedure. The lady on the phone pressured me to give a same day answer “to avoid inconveniencing the staff, because a lot of people are involved, you know?” What this is is callous treatment of a client and a thinly veiled attempt to blame the client for a staff that failed to verify my insurance when I was scheduled OVER A MONTH prior to my procedure date. A procedure with a full week of prep that I had already been undergoing. A procedure that I NEED done! Simply DO NOT RISK your body, your health, your time, or your money by bringing your business to this surgery center. This is not a bad burger, this is healthcare! Yet I’ve experienced better, more thoughtful customer service at my local McDonald’s.
I wish I would’ve read Connie Schmidt’s review and followed her advice before I went into my procedure later that month. The more I think about it, the more upset it makes me. Let me just state up front- I have called the surgery center and spoken to people directly multiple times. ( surgery center management or HR – whoever responds to these, please do not advise me to do so.) Here is my experience: Check in was fine. Preop was fine. But onceI got out of preop, everything must have gone downhill, (when I was the most vulnerable- Under anesthesia .) After seven hours with an amazing surgeon, I woke up with two Nurses preparing me for discharge . While they were leaning over me, one of them elbowed my breast that had JUST BEEN RECONSTRUCTED! I said, “Ouch!” and told the nurse on my right that she had elbowed me in the chest and she shrugged it off like it was nothing - followed by Halloween plans because their families were waiting on them. They wheeled me out as fast as they could. No instructions or things to watch out for – just kids costumes. After seven hours in surgery and waking up in pain, that was the last thing I cared about. When I was finally able to shower, I also noticed an electric burn that had not been there before and having had experience in the OR, I know that that is completely unacceptable and it should’ve been documented, but when I called and finally got to speak to someone, they knew nothing about it and did not have the report yet, but they would call me back to follow up. I never received a call now five weeks out of surgery and still having back pain. I noticed that my compression garments have been backwards the entire time! I have mimicked the way they had it on- So my back has been stiff and my abdomen it has not hadthe support that it needed during my healing process so far. Oh yes! I almost forgot when they wheeled me into recovery. The first thing they told my husband is that they hit my head on the bed rail a couple of times while trying to get that undergarment on. Absolutely unacceptable! I will never go back there. I would never want my friends or family to go here- Heck, I wouldn’t want any decent human that wants to fall asleep not worrying about what’s going to happen to go here. I love my surgeon, but he should definitely change facilities! Like I said, I worked in surgery for years and for there to be this many incidents in one case is mind blowing!
Patient Care Concern – Postoperative Experience My husband had a procedure at your surgery center on Oct.15,2025. When he was called back, an employee placed him in a wheelchair, and had him weigh, she placed the chair directly behind him and almost made him fall as he stepped off the scales. She said he was a risk fall, even though he has never fallen, still working full time and driving. We could see perhaps after surgery with the medication he would be a risk fall. The patient board for family to watch the progress was not updated. After, 45 minutes, it still showed pre op. I asked the front desk about it and they changed it. Even after the doctor talked to me, it still showed OR and never showed recovery room, etc. And the doctor said he has been out of OR awhile. It's important to keep family updated. It's important to treat people, the way you would want to be treated. After surgery he was still in significant pain and said the spinal block hadn’t fully worked. The nurse stated the block must have failed, unfortunately, she said unfortunately many times about situations. The nurse caring for him commented that she hadn’t had lunch and seemed eager for my husband to be discharged. She also said she couldn’t give more pain medication because that would require monitoring vital signs longer and they were not equipped for this. This made us feel that his comfort and safety were not the main priority. I told her I cannot take him home in this shape. I've been with him for many procedures in our 45 year marriage but never saw him wake up with this much pain. She said I would have to take him to the ER. I told her to get his paperwork together and I would take him to the ER she changed her attitude then. She gave him another dose and this time, his pain got better. We were very concerned by the lack of adequate pain control and the impression that staff convenience outweighed patient needs. Please review this situation and ensure staff receive support and guidance on maintaining patient-centered care and professionalism. Thank you for looking into this matter and for your attention to improving patient experience.
I went in on 9-12-24 under Dr. Jennifer Zahn’s care. After the fall I had in July my back was giving me constant pain. Dr. Zahn gave shots in my low back. I had excellent care from everyone, from the time I enter the facility until left. All were very attentive. The tech, Elizabeth, who took me back to be prepared, Brandi, RN that took care of me before the procedure, everyone in the operating room, and finally but not least Andrea, RN. EVERYONE was excellent. I gladly give everyone and the facility 5***** Thanks to all of you! Yesterday 4-10-25 I had another procedure by Jennifer Zahn. When I was a child I was in a severe car wreck and have suffered from whip lash. Dr. Zahn gave me shots in the back of my neck, I trust her explicitly with my health care, I’ve known her for many years. Texas Health employees are marvelous in their care of me and yesterday was exceptional. Thank you all for your expert care 💕 Today 8-21-25 I had a procedure on my low back due to 2 ruptured disk. Dr. Jennifer Zahn was marvelous in my care as always. Also one of the nurses agree and Erin were fantastic, considerate and caring. Thank you Texas Health Surgery Center for hiring caring and gently employees. 5 *****
