While I had no issue with the procedure or the excellent care Texas Health Surgical Center provided, I found the repetitive verification of information after my initial filing of my medical details with Texas Colon & Rectal Specialists both frustrating and unnecessary, ESPECIALLY considering that I had to spend an additional 30 minutes filling out the surgical center’s online profile to only receive both ANOTHER phone call AND then repeat much of the information AGAIN when I checked in for my colonoscopy procedure! Both my mitral valve replacement and pacemaker procedures, while with different medical centers, were both thorough and did not require such repetition of details (and I was told that many times, the information entered in the surgical center’s portals DOES NOT always show on the printouts provided to the medical staff!). I STRONGLY suggest better software so that your patients will not consider it incompetent.
The nurses were great and really took care of my spouse. That part was solid. But the front area was loud the entire time and the girls up front didn’t come off very professional inappropriate conversations ….. Just not what you expect at a surgery center. Only problem needs to be worked on …
My issues are with the billing. $30K+ for a 2 hour stay for routine hernia surgery. I had to prepay what they estimated would be my cost, then bill me $1500+ more 5 months later. Ridiculous
Had a lumbar steroid epidural injection there and had a great experience. The front desk staff were nice and organized. My pre-op, op, and post-op nurses were so kind and helpful. Was a very smooth experience from start to finish.
I will not recommend this place. I will give a zero if it was an option. Waited for this procedure for months. Aftergoing through so many hoops of getting clearance to get it done, the procedure was cancelled simply because the patient's BP was elevated and the anesthesiologist for Dr. Agha did not feel comfortable treating the patient. He skipped his BP med in the morning due to NPO status but we checked it before leaving home to make sure it was ok. It was 130/80. BP was 125/85 last night. Yes, we monitor his BP twice a day and we have a BP log at home. Preop instruction sent specified NPO after midnight. We asked if it included BP medications, and they said yes. The patient was anxious of course, so BP was elevated during preop. We requested a mild sedative to calm him down or an IV med such as hydralazine or labetalol however, the anesthesiologist was not comfortable doing so. He said he does not do that. What a joke. He keeps on arguing that "patient will crush and no one will monitor". What is the role of the recovery team? I am not sure what kind of anesthesiologist he is , but he does not seem to be comfortable in what he does. Needless to say, we will find another GI and another place to get his procedure done. We will not be back in this place.
