I'm so sad to have to write this review. Surgicare was great with my actual care. Everyone was professional, competent, and I felt safe and cared for. However, the failure of their billing management and apathy towards fixing their own mistake is unacceptable. My procedure was preventative and 100% covered under my insurance with no out of pocket expense for myself. I had the procedure in February 2025 and Surgicare's billing coded it incorrectly as diagnostic instead of preventative. I received a $300+ bill and had to call and email Surgicare and their third party biller for almost a year before they fixed it. Surgicare would just tell me to call their biller and did not seem to care at all. I called both Surgicare and their biller at least two or three times a month for 9 months, just getting "we're working on it". I had to call HMSA after every follow up to find out what was really happening and that it just kept being billed incorrectly. This went on for 9 months. I only received help when I guessed the emails of the third party biller's executives. I finally received a confirmation that I no longer had the balance due near the end of November 2025. 9 months is a ridiculous timeframe for a simple correction. Surigcare did waive the residual tax fee for me but I don't think that makes up for their utter disregard for the situation. Surgicare's complete apathy to an error on their side has been extremely unprofessional and infuriating, I felt I had to write this especially for others. For someone else with less time, less experience with advocating for themselves, those that don't speak English well, or are on a fixed budget, this NINE month long experience would be intensely stressful and unacceptable.

A 10-star experience from the moment I stepped into Surgicare. From the receptionist, pre-op nurse, surgical nurse, to the post-op nurse. I was treated like family. Yes, the place is on the colder side. But all medical facilities are similar to keep the bacterial in check. Yes, your appointment time may be pushed ahead after you arrive but that’s how medical procedures are. A patient before you may have had unforeseen complications. Be patient, it’s your health, you don’t want to rush it.

Awesome Experience ! Nurses are the best! They took excellent care of me! But the reception wasn’t so good! They called me to ask if I wanted to come in earlier due to a cancellation, so I did. I checked in at 8:30 like they asked instead of 10:30 my original appt time. I had to wait till almost 10:00 before I even got in and I had to ask them how long more am I going to wait at 9:30! So they said oh I’ll call them, didn’t get called in by the nurse till almost 10:00!!! Also they asked me if I wanted a call back the next day after surgery to see how I’m doing, I said yes. No one called from Surgicare of Hawaii? I had questions for them but never received a call??

It took me half an hour to pickup my wife after I was notified she was ready to be picked up. I told the receptionist I was picking up my wife. She got on the phone and spoke to someone. Then she told me my wife will be brought into the lobby. I waited for half an hour before I got a call that my wife and a nurse had been waiting for me at the curb. So I went to the curb and found no one there. The nurse had wheeled my wife back to the lobby. That place is a joke.

It was a wonderful Experience to be taken care by those Nurses … they covered me in 2 warm blankets in the cold Prep-room & then wrapped me like a baby in bed 🛌 sheets - felt so pampered! Dr Bal did an excellent Cataract Operation on both Eyes 👀- so efficient & detail oriented! It was Perfection at work! 😊 Thank You 🙏 so much - wishing them all a Million Blessings!
