Beware. Run Forrest Run. On Tuesday 11/11/2025, I went to the Memphis Surgery Center for right eye cataract surgery. This is a Baptist owned and managed medical place. Had I known that, I would have gone somewhere else. Baptist knows their horrible reputation and hides the fact they own and manage this medical place. I will say that ALL of the staff were great, nice, professional, top notch, etc. They got the two starts for their staff. Otherwise they would have received Zero Stars. But being a Baptist medical place showed throughout. They did not call me with the times until the afternoon before the surgery day. BUT they called me multiple times and multiple days before surgery wanting payment ASAP. They had me report at 1:00 PM for a 4:45 PM scheduled right eye cataract surgery. Yes we waited almost four hours, two of which were on the bed / stretcher. They would not let my family member go to pre-op with me. They would not let my family member go to post-op with me. They did not communicate with my family member before, during, or after the surgery. They lost three stars being a Baptist medical place, hiding that simple fact, and then acting just like a typical Baptist medical place that only cares about the dollar and profit and not about patients and service. Two weeks ago on Wednesday 10/29/2025, I went to the Methodist Germantown Surgery Center for left eye cataract surgery and they did everything right. They called with the times the morning of two business days before surgery day. They had me report at a very reasonable waiting time at 6:15 AM for 7:45 AM Left Eye Cataract Surgery. They let my family member go to pre-op with me. They let my family member go to post-op with me. They had me out and on the way home a little after 8 AM or so. They had a monitor or two on the walls in the waiting area to communicate with my family member every step of the way. They were first class all of the way. My free advice is to go anywhere else, maybe go to Mexico, instead of any Baptist medical place. Mexico would probably be a better class and level of service than any Baptist medical place. Again, why hide the simple fact you are own and managed by corporate, greedy, “we could care less about patients” Baptist. Because even Baptist knows their own reputation is absolutely horrible.

My Dad's appointment was for 9:45 am. They called him the day before to see if he could come in between 8:15/8:30am because they had a cancelation. We got here at 8:25 am to still be sitting here after 10am with no call for him to go back. This is ridiculous! I could have gotten some work done before his original appointment time. I think the staff is very nice. However, if you have a scheduled appointment there's no way you should have to wait 1.5 hrs before you are even seen. Especially when someone has to wait on you.

The Memphis Surgery Center is top notch. I had surgery there today, 7/7/25. The front desk was polite. She got me checked in quickly and efficiently. When I was called back to the holding room by the sweetest nurse named Kim. A kind, true professional. She went out of her way to make sure I understood every aspect of what was going on. There was another nurse with her who had the same kindness and professionalism. I'm sorry I can remember her name. I spoke to another nurse named Rhonda. She was quick and very nice as well. Both anesthesiologists I spoke to were so sweet and explained everything to me. The one in the OR was Gary. He has a good sense of humor. Finally, Jessie was the nurse who got me ready to leave. She was adorable. So nice and compassionate as I was very nauseated there for a few minutes and she did everything she could to give me relief. I was treated very well and I would highly recommend this center.

I did a surgery in this surgery center in December 2025. I was asked to pay the cost during check in. They promised to file to insurance after the surgery was done. Now almost four months passed, this surgery center still has not filed my claim yet. I called them numerous times. Each time they promised the claim would be filed, but it never happened till this point.

I had cataract surgery after Christmas and the staff were all very professional and courteous. I had an excellent experience and would recommend Memphis Surgery Center.
