Very poor pre- op communication. I needed to talk to the pre- op center regarding health issues several weeks before surgery and left 4 messages that were never returned. Two days before surgery they call saying I need to have stopped a medication several days ago and that I needed clearance from two specialists. It’s almost impossible to get an appointment with a specialist within two days. They threatened me with canceling surgery if I didn’t get in to see the specialists. They need to greatly improve their communication.
Dr. Matthew D. Hurbanis provided outstanding care during my right shoulder arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, subacromial decompression, and distal clavicle resection. I had an excellent recovery and feel perfectly well. His instructions were precise, and he answered all of my questions with professionalism and dedication. I highly recommend him.
1 star for service before procedure. One staff member called 1 week before procedure to notify of payment due at DOS. I explained we met our out of pocket deductible for year. She said someone would call me back. Forward 1 week. I left 4 messages with billing. Different people. No one called me. Today is Friday his procedure is Monday. I called once more this am. Spoke with a nurse. She connected me to billing again. While I had the nurse on the line I asked about the time of my son's procedure for Monday. She told me tentative time. Someone would call me today with time. Yup, no one called me with am time for Monday. Good thing I asked. Hope it is still the tentative time!!! Absolutely the worst customer service ever. 0 star if I could.

The doctors are highly skilled, the nurses are compassionate and attentive, and the entire staff operates with true professionalism. The facility itself is spotless, well-organized, and runs so smoothly—it gives you immediate confidence that you’re in the right place. This was my wife’s second knee surgery here (first her left knee, now her right), and both experiences have been nothing short of excellent. The level of care, communication, and dedication to patient comfort and recovery is unmatched. We are deeply grateful for the entire team and couldn’t recommend Eugene Jewett Surgery Center enough. They set the standard for outstanding medical care!
