I have been a patient at several surgery centers in my lifetime, and medical city mckinney really outperforms all of the others. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, answering all of my questions and concerns. I was very anxious leading up to the surgery, but the pre-op staff really made me feel at ease and made the whole experience very pleasant.
I had a colonoscopy at this location in October of 2025. The day before my procedure, I received two separate text messages with different arrival times. I had to call the office to confirm which time was correct, which immediately made me concerned about organization. When I arrived, the nurse who brought me back did not initially remember she needed to take my height and weight prior to anesthesia and had to ask someone else. She laughed and said, “It’s the blind leading the blind” to someone who appeared to be shadowing her. That comment was alarming, and my nerves skyrocketed. She then struggled for a strangely long time to figure out how to plug in the blood pressure monitor. I was sitting awkwardly across the room while she fumbled with the equipment, which only increased my anxiety. She commented on how fast my pulse was and asked if I was nervous. I explained that I was partly nervous because she didn’t seem confident in taking my vitals. Given that I had been fasting for 36 hours and was dehydrated from colon prep, I was already feeling dizzy and vulnerable. The elevated heart rate didn’t seem surprising to me under those circumstances. She then made a sarcastic remark asking if my blood pressure was going to be high too. The entire interaction felt unprofessional and unnecessarily stressful. Eventually, another nurse came to check on things and seemed much more capable. I told her I was feeling anxious because of how disorganized everything seemed. She seemed surprised that I was feeling uncomfortable and explained there had been scheduling issues, which is why the first nurse had brought me back. While I understand that problems can arise, the situation felt chaotic. After my vitals and intake were completed and I was changed into a gown, things improved somewhat and I began to calm down. However, when I was wheeled into the procedure room, there were additional delays and confusion, possibly related to my chart printing. My doctor walked in and out several times without speaking to me, and I continued overhearing staff discussions about scheduling issues and other patient problems. It did not feel like anyone had full focus on my care, aside from perhaps the anesthesiologist. I understand that unpredictable issues can happen in healthcare settings. However, the overall lack of professionalism and organization made me feel unsafe at a very vulnerable moment. Months later, I still feel uncomfortable thinking about the experience. I would not choose to have another procedure at this facility.
The billing area is awful. They sent bills for amounts due prior to getting the payments from the insurance company and without any detail. One year after my surgery I got another bill with no detail, just a lump sum due. I called to find out what the charges were for since I paid up front and they couldn't provide any detail and told me to ignore the bill since things weren't finalized with the insurance company. Then, 17 months after my surgery I got a text from a collection agency for payment. I've talked to them 10 times in the last 8 months and the issue is still not resolved.
Had surgery here with Dr. Lambert and everything went well; however, I had found out about a month ago that I overpaid the facility by about $350 and disputed it with my insurance and the facility on 3/18. I was informed by my insurance 4 days later that I would receive a refund in a few weeks, but I called the surgery center's billing department on 4/1 just to check the status. I wound up speaking to the same woman I spoke to initially, but she was very rude, irritable, and unfriendly this time around. Based off of the older reviews before me, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same woman. I'm fine with seeing Dr. Lambert and I think he does an excellent job, but I don't think I'll have any procedures through the facility again.
The location was easy to find. They called me the day before surgery to give me instructions necessary prior to surgery. The nurse emailed me their link so I could input all my information at my leisure . I really liked that it gave me time to get my medical history and current medications with correct dosage . When I fill that out in the office while waiting to see the doctor I am never sure I remember all of them. When you finish it is posted to all the doctors that will attend on the case . Dr Osbourne the anesthesiologist called me the evening before to give instructions as to when and what I could eat and drink He explained that he would keep me awake during surgery but I would feel no pain. I felt comfortable instead of fearful before my surgery. All the staff from registrational to the nursing staff did a wonderful and caring job while I was under their care. It was a wonderful experience. They called me this morning to check on how I was feeling. I would highly recommend their facilities services.
