Refocus Eye Surgery Center Waterbury

With no prior notice, the office and billing managers blocked me from seeing my provider when I srrived at my scheduled appointment time.I have a very serious condition and have waited 6 months for the appointment. My insurance care coordinator assured staff that I had active, in- network insurance coverage , but it was to no avail. I was told to pay with my own money or no appointment was available.My vision has markedly worsened and I do not feel this company should be refusing treatment to in- network patients who have been seeking care there for many years.

From the check-in to the check-out the front desk was pleasant, professional & very accommodating. The tech who did my prescription exam, Kim, was absolutely lovely. She explained everything she was doing. She was detailed, polite, professional & a joy to work with. Dr Gilbert was professional as always. He is very thorough & explained what he was seeing while examining the interior of my eyes. He is having me follow-up in 2 weeks bc of something he saw on my retina. He is gathering all information on me along with another test before he determines the problem. I felt very confident he would figure out the diagnosis. Overall my appointment was excellent & confirmed my decision to come back to ReFocus after a two year period away. Thank you.

I actually had a better experience this year. It was a smooth visit this year compared to last year. It's great to be seen by the same doctor this year. I didn't have to keep explaining my health history and everything all over again it was updated in the system. Dr. Gilbert is easy to talk to, has a pleasant calm bedside manner, and explains everything very well. The check in was easy and fast and the staff is great the office atmosphere was way better this year not so chaotic. I would say that they should improve on the confirmation and reminders system specifically for those who are only on a yearly basis it was about a week before my appointment through text, maybe add another confirmation a little earlier on top of the week before. I know it's not their jobs ..but.I would assume there's possibly a lot of no shows especially if their appointment is during the holidays.

I had a concern about changes to my vision in my left eye. The staff (Chris, Jessica and Alyce) were all excellent and very professional in effectively facilitating my office visit and administrating the necessary tests and evaluations. Dr. Apoorva met with me and evaluated and explained to me my vision tests. She did a very good job evaluating my test results and providing me direction and guidance with the next steps I must follow in order to address my vision. It’s important that the receptionist are both friendly and professional. They are the first persons we interact with and they can establish a good or bad impression for the establishment before the exam begins..The gentleman was just that, professional and friendly. And everyone else in and out were knowledgeable and professional. Loved Dr Gilbert and how he explains everything he does and sees during the examination.
