The Labor & Delivery department at UVA Health was absolutely outstanding. From the moment we arrived, the entire team made us feel supported, informed, and genuinely cared for. The nurses were incredibly attentive, compassionate, and professional, always checking in and explaining every step with patience and kindness. The doctors and midwives were knowledgeable and calm, which made a huge difference during such an emotional and important time. They listened to our concerns, respected our wishes, and made us feel confident and safe throughout the entire process. The facility itself was clean, well-organized, and comfortable, and the teamwork among the staff was clearly visible. We are truly grateful for the exceptional care we received and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend the UVA Health Labor & Delivery team to any expecting family.

I gave birth at this hospital twice and had a great experience both times! I can’t thank the wonderful nurses and staff enough for all of their kindness and support during L&D. I can’t remember everyone’s name but a special thank you to nurses Hannah, Jordan, and Angela (postpartum). Also, I’m so glad I took advantage of the great lactation services that were available. Andy and Diana were both wonderful and helped us so much with breastfeeding. Like most hospitals, the food was probably the only issue for me but the amazing people of UVA made up for it. Thank you all!

I had a great experience with this facility. I ended up here after going to another facility that provided me with extremely poor service at another ER in the area. The other facility after 6 hours there sent me home with pain and nausea meds. UVA Medical was very thorough in evaluating me and decided within an hour I needed to have my gallbladder removed. Dr Darr was my surgeon and had a wonderful bed-side manner and took great care of me. Other staff that took amazing care of me included 3 nurses Urvi, Beth and Phillip. My tech, Melissa was the best as well.

On 12/23 I called 911 and my mother was taken to the UVA Prince William County hospital . She was having breathing problems. I wanted to compliment the young female nurse with long curly hair for the night shift . We came in around 930 pm . The Dr that took care of my mother for the night shift was very kind and had a great bedside manner . The day shift nurses were very kind as well please note The nurses we had issues with were the following: A young black male nurse from the night shift he was wearing green sweatpants , a gray Nike crew neck sweater , red and white new balance shoes , he was wearing braids and a Christmas light necklace. He was kind at first but then quickly his attitude changed . When my mother was having an attack where she could not breathe due to her coughing he made it seem like it was just anxiety or in my mother head . It happened in front of him and I told him what Am I supposed to do if this happens at home ? He was not kind and had no empathy . The nurse that was with him was a young white nurse she had daisy award pin . She also tried to make it seem like it was anxiety . It wasn’t that because the doctor had come to see my mom not too long ago and had ordered tests for my mom she had ordered a chest xray as well for my mom to check her lungs . I understand nurses are under stress . I personally work with people in my day job . I feel that these nurses lacked empathy in their training . They are treating patients and dealing with families on the worst days of people’s lives . They need to be held accountable. If not they should not be in this job , they should switch jobs or careers if they cannot have better attitudes and empathy toward their patients. Please note the young black nurse did not apologize for his behavior. The young white nurse she did apologize and I appreciate it. In all the doctors had better bedside manner than the nurses . There was a clear difference in the night shift nurses and day shift . Day shift nurses were much kinder and more experienced . Another issue was with a night shift/ day shift nurse when my mother was moved to another room her machine where she was connected was not detecting her finger . I went to get help the nurse I spoke to was a young white nurse she had glasses and a red Santa hat with a green shirt on . She was very rude and gave me attitude. Please note I was exhausted myself I had been there since the night before with my mom and it was already 6 am no sleep .

I had an extremely disappointing and upsetting experience during registration at UVA Prince William Hospital. The patient services representative named Deon was absolutely unprofessional, rude, and displayed behavior that should never be tolerated in a healthcare environment. From the start, her approach and mannerisms were disrespectful and condescending — something I’ve never experienced before at any medical facility. What made it even worse is that after my procedure was finished and I was leaving the building, she continued making unnecessary and inappropriate remarks. Her behavior was completely unacceptable and does not represent the standard of care or professionalism expected from a hospital associated with UVA. Someone with such poor conduct should not be allowed to interact with patients, and I truly hope management takes immediate action. No patient should ever be made to feel disrespected or uncomfortable during a hospital visit.
