I was given an appointment for today, 12/9/25 at my last year's appointment. I got off work in Charlotte at 2 pm for this 3:30 appointment as it's an hour drive. After arriving at 3 pm, the lady told me she didn't have an appointment for me. I had my appointment card with me but before I could show it to her, she stated it looks like we tried to call you in July to reschedule you. What???? You're going to call me in July to reschedule a December appointment??? Of course I've received no call, email or voicemail concerning the matter. I've been a patient here for 6 years (since my cataract surgery), but no more. She told me she could get me in December 23rd. I said forget it, I'll go elsewhere. This place has gotten too big. It's bigger than they can provide decent service for. They just want to herd people through like cattle.
I’ve been going here for years and they are very helpful and friendly. They are a bit on the expensive side, but I have VSP insurance, so my portion was quite reasonable. Great customer service! They even replaced my frame for free when the earpiece became damaged.
Appointments are made far into the future. They are too busy for the size of the practice and they need to add more doctors. (Several doctors have or are about to retire.) Once you are at your appointment, the doctor (at least the one I saw) was knowledgeable and helpful, but he has since retired. I wear “hard” contact lenses and now there is nobody there who can prescribe them. I will have to find someone else.
I had an issue with my right eye earlier this week where it was burning, watery, and swollen. I called the office asking to be seen in which I was told that the doctor wanted me to try some over the counter eye drops first. I again pleaded to be seen due to the pain I was in and got a return call from the nurse again saying that the doctor wanted me to try several over the counter eye drops and if I was not better within 2 days to come in on Thursday morning . This was on Tuesday and my eye and entire right side of my face was swollen. I ended up at Urgent Care on Tuesday and was given an antibiotic eye drop and told to follow up with eye doctor. I started to improve with the eye drops and called a new office on Wednesday morning and thankfully, they worked me in that afternoon. I was told i had an eye ulcer. That is serious and it’s a shame that the doctor refused to see me. They lost a patient and I will not be returning. I canceled future appointments and will be going to the new doctor who was willing to work me in. I am not one to complain but I felt my experience needed to be shared. Do better, Morganton Eye. Especially when you have a patient that never calls with any issues and only comes to yearly appointments. Situations like this should be taken seriously.
I just had the worst experience with calling this office to see if I can make an appointment. At first the woman that answered was fine, but when she found out they could take my insurance that when she was asking about my specific condition and saying the doctors don't have availability until next May(2026)! She kept saying she had to know what condition it is in order to schedule me and would not setup an appointment. I gave an answer in order to setup for the appointment but she pressed me about the condition and I refused to tell her and asked why she needed to know what eye condition I have when she is NOT a medical professional. The website showed this location had a lot of doctors. I felt like the woman was discriminating because of my insurance and lying about the availability of the doctors and gave horrible customer service. Goes to show not all business appreciate or even want new customers! Looking at the reviews they are not super liked in Shelby NC.
