Be warned: This practice takes no responsibility or time to request pre-authorizations, as required by insurance for a diagnostic colonoscopy. My college-age daughter was sent by PCM to this place, and our Tricare insurance authorized the office visits. BUT when the doctor scheduled her for her "urgent" colonoscopy, no one bothered to obtain an authorization first, knowing at age 20, that this was not a routine screening procedure. I guess we are accustomed to participating providers always getting any necessary approval ahead of time, knowing it's required, and my daughter thought it had been obtained. We pay for the premium Prime plan and should have had $0 copay. Instead, we were penalized with $300 deductible (we usually have none), plus the 20% copay (we usually have $0 for diagnostic). We'll probably get a big anesthesia bill separately, because of their lack of diligence. It's easier to not care about the patient's burden and just expect them to pay. I had tried to get my daughter to go to my gastro, but they were booked further down the road. It's obvious why she got in so quickly----you usually have to wait, unfortunately, to get in with the good specialists.
Dr reiprich is fantastic. He very patiently looked me right in my eyes ( which were filling with tears and told me he was going to get me back to where I was. He so compassionately listened to my family history and my fears and treated me so kindly. He has a bedside manner which is seriously missing in so many doctors today. I super highly recommend hbg gastroenterology on Union deposit rd hbg PA. And thank you for you kind Sir. GOD bless your holidays 💖
PLEASE see about going somewhere else if you can. This place and staff operates in a very unprofessional and outdated manner. Besides that, the attitudes are very carless and lax. When I was there, the doctors joked about not having the proper paperwork you need to sign (they are supposed to have paperwork for you to sign on the off chance you have an emergency and need surgery). One of the nurses putting my IV in made holes in her glove to make room for her acrylic nails to fit which, maybe is okay but just seemed odd to me, but maybe that is a none issue? In any event, I don't expect much at all getting such a quick procedure done, and yet the staff (except for one nurse and the receptionist) made the experience extremely disorienting and dehumanizing because of the lack of the most basic bedside manners and consideration. I understand it's a job and we are all exhausted and feel rushed in this profession and so I am used to all sorts of attitudes and behaviors, but the two nurses that were supposed to assisting me after my procedure were arrogant and demeaning, and the other that I had to ask to please help me seemed to unfortunately lack basic awareness/courtesy, empathy and professionalism too, though, they at least did try to be helpful. I wish them all well and hope they figure it out, because even if you lack empathy, you still have to, at the very least, be professional and patient/understanding when dealing with your patients, even if, ESPECIALLY if your patient has medical struggles you are not used to or aware of.
I had a colonoscopy last week and was so happy with the doctor and entire nursing and care team! This is a top notch group who have wonderful bedside manners and are so professional, friendly, kind, and caring. They took time to explain everything and I felt very comfortable. I was in and out so quickly - how did they do that! I was very impressed with the level of care - thank you!
This place is the most unprofessional place that lacks empathy I have ever seen. The staff of nurses are cold, non compassionate and rude. I had my 1st colonoscopy scheduled for the afternoon. When I arrived to check in I was told they were an hour behind. The waiting room was packed with about 15 people waiting on the same procedure who were hungry tired and just as frustrated as I was. Apparently there was only one doctor that day who was also seeing patients for appointments that morning. The place was chaotic. I was left in my room for what takes 15 minutes for 2 hours. Then wheeled into a dirty cold operating room for 45 more minutes left alone until the doctor finally came in. I woke up twice during the colonoscopy. Absolute horror.
