Charlotte Surgery Center Museum Campus

Really disappointed in this place as well as the communication mismatch between orthocarolina and the surgery center. I was supposed to have a simple benign cyst removed from my foot. I was given an estimate from the surgeon and then I got a one line estimate from the surgery center with no details. I was told by the doctor it would be done under local anesthetic since it was such a simple procedure. I get there and find out they want to put me under general anesthetic which is absurd given what the task is. I asked them what the fees were going to be for the anesthesia and they said I could have that conversation once I paid their fee and got to the pre op room. Sorry, but no. The total fees were going to be at least $5k for what should be a 5 minute surgery. Orthocarolina told me I needed to have someone drop me off and pick me up. They said I needed someone to sit there the whole time. Orthocarolina said NOTHING about general anesthesia and the surgery center said this is standard. Nobody mentioned it before I sat down to pay at checkin. Super frustrating. The communication was awful and I ended up walking out and not getting the surgery.

All of the medical staff were wonderful, and I had a great experience with. However, this center made me pay over 700% more than what I actually owed before my daughter's surgery. Then when I told them I saw my EOB, and I was overcharged, they told me it could be a few weeks before I received my money back (over $2000). Since then I cannot get ahold of anyone. I have been asking for a receipt, so I can get reimbursed by my HSA, but they will not return my phone calls, and they have not sent me a receipt.

I had an excellent experience here for sinus surgery in October. The nursing staff in pre and post op were very caring and the anesthesia team was also amazing. Having very thorough and kind professionals around me at all times made me feel much more at ease during the stress of surgery (the happy meds they gave me as they were wheeling me back also didn’t hurt haha). Grateful to this team for taking great care of me!

I am a young Black mother of two boys and attended my son’s procedure alone. My experience with Dr. Gelman, Eric D, MD was extremely disappointing and honestly made me question the level of care my child received. He was rude, dismissive, and very condescending when I asked questions. At one point, he shrugged his shoulders and told me “I don’t know,” offering no reassurance or explanation. He then casually stated my child “just had his adenoids burned off” with zero empathy or bedside manner. Because of his lack of communication and concern, it left me uneasy and questioning how attentive and thorough he truly was during my child’s care. What made the experience even more concerning was the clear difference in how he spoke to others. His tone and demeanor were noticeably more respectful and pleasant when speaking to blonde-haired, blue-eyed nurses than when addressing me. It left me questioning whether I was being treated differently as a Black mother. No parent should feel dismissed, disrespected, or uncertain about the care their child is receiving. Because of this experience, I have canceled all future appointments for both of my children at this facility. We will not return.

Easy to find. Easy to park. Fast, friendly, efficient, check-in, and processing, clean and comfortable and spacious waiting room bonus – fantastic coffee machine. Very much appreciated when waiting for patients in the early morning hours. Graham at check in is hilarious. Staff goes under their way to make you feel comfortable and communicate the process. Downside is billing. Wish they would just give an itemized list once with all the fees. Instead of phone calls here and there. Overall great experience.
