I had surgery today on my left knee for a torn meniscus. The Okatie Staff was so accommodating, professional and friendly. Kim checked me in this morning and put me right at ease with her positive demeanor. Amy, the nurse that did my IV and got me ready for surgery was awesome. She gets 10 out of 10 for the IV procedure and caring personality. Dr. Russo and Dr. Gavin were so thorough with their explanations of the procedure, plus they both have a fun and lighthearted sense of humor, which helped with my nervousness. From the surgical nurses to the post op nurses, my experience was very assuring, efficient and now complete!
I just had 3 sun spots removed yesterday. When I was waiting to go into the operation room, the nurses kept checking to make sure I was okay and warm enough. When I was in the operating room, the two nurses I had couldn’t be nicer (Heather and Justin). They made sure I had warm blankets and was comfortable, then my nerves got the best of me and Heather kept wiping my eyes and the tears running down my face, massaged my forehead, then they all just started talking about random topics to get my mind off of what was happening. Heather, Justin, and Dr. just kept saying how good I was doing and kept letting me know when one spot was done. Best experience for my 1st surgery
I had surgery scheduled here two weeks ago and it was my first experience at this facility but far from my only outpatient surgery experience. From scheduling-admission to discharge and follow-up this was easily my best experience. If you have ever experienced out patient surgical procedures, you will know there is significant memory loss and situational awareness. At two weeks post op there is a certain amount of clarity that returns. Candidly, my best recollections are of a very caring team of individuals performing very specific tasks to ensure the complete success of my scheduled shoulder surgery. Every possible Covid protection protocol was completely in place from the early arrival through discharge. Between the acute skill of my surgeon and the excellent support of this surgical team I am happily on this side of the healing process.
I recently had a procedure at Okatie Surgery Center. Everyone I came in contact with was warm, friendly and professional. Covid protocol was followed completely and I was in and out before I knew the surgery was complete! Kudos to all! A few days after my procedure, a card signed by the staff was mailed to me sending me good wishes! Small acts of kindness go a long way especially in these current times!
You know they say 60 is the new 40 - hahaha - no one told my eyes, but since my procedure a few days ago things are looking BRIGHTer just like when I was in my 30s... hahaha!!!
