I had cataract surgery performed by Dr. Knox on September 16th. He was very professional, courteous and friendly. I highly recommend him. Everything went smoothly and as planned. Staff was friendly and professional; however, I must give a BIG shout out to Shannon who was my pre-op nurse. She was absolutely fantastic and went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable; we even shared a few laughs. I am scheduled for the second surgery, and I pray that Shannon is my pre-op nurse!!!!! Kudos Shannon and thank you for taking such good care of me.

Dealing with the billing department is terrible. For months I've tried getting my overpayment resolved but have yet to make progress though they tell me my card won't be charged again only to have it hit again the next month. I've overpaid thousands. They're aware but I keep getting transferred from department to department with no resolve. I truly despise this place

Had shoulder surgery by Dr Jefferson Davis here. I had read reviews and most were very good. I must say i could not have had my surgery done at a better place. Everyone was so nice,helpful, and professional. Pre-op nurse was so good at her job and very easy to talk with. She explained everything as it happened and what to expect. Dr. Davis is an amazing person and prayed with me before the surgery. A GODLY man and i was so blessed to have him on my side.

I waited a few days post op and off meds to get some perspective and see if I needed to write a review. After some thought, I need to warn people about Birmingham surgery center. My doctor and surgeon were very nice and competent and the pre-op nurse was so kind, helpful and knew what she was doing. However, post-op was a horrific experience, like many other reviews of this place I have seen. I woke up in a large room with no other patients, doctors or nurses. I was alone, drugged and confused. After a while my post op nurse finally showed up, with my mother. We began to ask questions like how was the surgery, did it go well? She said she didn't know. We then asked if the doctor said anything or if we could meet with them, at this point the nurse told us to and I quote "calm down". Our voices were not raised, we were not crying, I'm not sure why asking my post-op nurse how my surgery went warranted us to "calm down". The front desk also messed up my paperwork so they were texting me the patient the entire surgery instead of my mom. This also resulted in the doctor calling me the patient while under anesthesia because of their incompetence. If you are able to RUN don't walk away from this surgery center.

The medical staff were excellent but this review is for the billing department. I had surgery at this facility on November 1, 2024 and was charged over $1,300. I found out through my insurance company a few weeks later that my portion should have been a little over $800 and the insurance check was sent on November 27, 2024. It is now early January 2025 and I still do not have the $500 overpayment returned to me. I have left voicemail messages but I have not received any return call. I have submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will research other options later this week.
